JPro Atlanta’s Resilient Leadership in a Time of Crisis
May 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Free
With Dr. Dean P. Bell, President, and CEO of Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership
The term “resilience” is ubiquitous these days, especially in response to Covid and other social and communal crises. Often, however, the term is intended to mean simply a return to a status quo or even some kind of a “normal” functioning. However, resilient leadership is a deep practice that offers a chance to develop agility, adapting as we create new opportunities and new realities. If it is to be effective, resilience requires that we understand and grapple with our own vulnerabilities, that we intentionally nurture our own resilience, that we work hard to develop support networks, and that we pay careful attention to the conditions all around us. These are essential skills for today’s leaders.
In a refreshing take, Dr. Dean Bell, President/CEO, and Professor of Jewish History at Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership will lead an interactive session on how vulnerability and resilience are inextricably bound to each other. He will share his own experiences leading his organization and offers insights for current and future realities drawn from scholarship on resilience and vulnerability as well as lessons from Jewish texts and history. The session will include opportunities to workshop individual professional challenges.
