For homeless people, Atlanta’s two synagogue shelters are a lifeline. Congregation Shearith Israel was the first synagogue in the nation to open a homeless shelter. Now renamed Rebecca’s Tent, this shelter has been in operation for 32 years, providing 13 women in transition with warm beds, hot meals and MARTA transportation from November to March. More than just a safe place to eat and sleep, ZPC helps residents obtain employment, find permanent housing and improve their life skills. To donate or volunteer click here.
