Israeli wheelchair basketball players, Asael Shabo, Maayan Zikri, Tal Dagan, Omri Berman, and Hadar Tal will put on a virtuoso demonstration of talent tomorrow, July 31, 8-10 am at The Marist School, as part of the 2019 JCC Maccabi Games Day of Caring. This dream team of wheelchair athletes were trained at world famous Israel Sport Center for the Disabled (ISCD), a pioneer in adaptive sports and in research and development on the physical and psychological needs of athletes with disabilities. Boaz Kramer, Executive Director of ISCD, is himself a World Cup wheelchair tennis champion. He believes that sports provide a “level playing field” for athletes with disabilities that is unavailable anywhere else. “The rules of competition created specifically for athletes with disabilities allows them to have a fair shot at excellence in sports.” Kaplan says. “It’s an empowering tool for emotional and personal recovery that drives individuals to succeed in other aspects of life.” American Friends of ISCD, which has strong donor support in Atlanta, is sponsoring this special event.
