Doug Kuniansky has been a Federation volunteer since his early 20’s. The first time he ever made Campaign phone calls he pulled the card of a $3,000 donor. At first, he worried he might screw it up, but he quickly realized this was an easy phone call. “A person giving at that level is already committed!” That’s exactly how Doug grew up – with committed parents. His father, Max L. Kuniansky, was a builder of homes and warehouses, and a builder of our Jewish community. “Dad would get his friends in a room and say, ‘This needs to get done, dammit!’ and they would give.” The gym at the old midtown JCC bore his father’s name, and though it embarrassed Doug as a teenager, his father’s example sparked a lifetime of engagement as a Federation volunteer and doing development work at the MJCCA. “I realize now that Dad stretched to make these gifts, and when he asked others to give, he asked them to stretch as well.” Thank you, Doug Kuniansky, for your generosity and your remarkable years of stewardship to benefit our community.
