Shinshinim Atlanta: Bigger & Better for 2019-20 Atlanta’s Shinshinim (young educator) program is growing! This year, 10 amazing Shinshinim (two more than last year) will be coming to live with Atlanta families in August to share their culture with our community. They are the most diverse cohort yet, coming from all parts of Israel and representing the religious and ethnic diversity of their nation. Atlanta, along with Baltimore, Long Island, and Los Angeles, was the fourth U.S. city to embrace the Shinshinim “Hub” model welcoming these exuberant young Israeli ambassadors. They are all recent high school graduates, selected through a highly selective process, who have chosen to take a gap year before their IDF service. This will be the third year in a row that Atlanta has participated in the program. Read about a family who hosted Shinshinim.
