Our Jewish Camp Initiative incentivizes Atlanta families to make a Jewish decision about overnight camping for their children so that the immersive experience of Jewish overnight camp is available to more kids. Since 1999 Birthright Israel has offered young Jewish adults, ages 18-32, the gift of a free trip to Israel. Traveling with their peers and young Israelis, the trip can be life-changing, especially for those less connected to Jewish tradition. Community Wide Security
With the rising threat of terrorism and antisemitism, every Jewish school, synagogue, summer camp, and organization in Greater Atlanta needs to think seriously about security. Federation’s Community-Wide Security program (CWS) operates around the clock to protect The Atlanta Jewish community. Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta is proud to have been the first local Federation to hire a Community-Wide Security Director in 2001, now a common position in most large cities.
The Jewish Innovation Fund supports the innovation team at Federation, who works collaboratively to empower and ignite initiatives for community change. We are fueling a growth mindset throughout our Jewish ecosystem and creating conditions where great ideas can blossom. Federation Innovation serves as community lab to actively expand the capacity of institutions and individuals. Through immersive skill building experiences, coaching, and intergenerational mentorship, the innovation team is opening new doors of participation for individual and organizational changemakers and accelerating the progress of new ventures. Global Jewish Peoplehood
Global Jewish Peoplehood reflects Atlanta’s expanded sense of connection to the Jewish world. We believe that the more bridges we build, the more we learn from each other. In addition to our work in Atlanta and Israel, Federation supports vulnerable Jewish communities around the world. Working with the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), our philanthropic contributions are pooled to provide for the most pressing needs of Jews worldwide, whether assisting Jews in financial distress, responding to global emergencies or building Jewish life and leaders.
Holocaust Survivor Support Fund
The Holocaust Survivor Support Fund (HSSF) is an initiative convened by Federation to support the remaining Holocaust survivors who live in Greater Atlanta. HSSF partners with Jewish Family & Career Services, Jewish Home Life, the Breman, the MJCCA and Eternal Life Hemshech on a variety of programs and supports that make survivors’ lives better and ensure that they live with dignity. Israel Partnership Region
For the last 25 years, Federation has been connected to the Israeli city of Yokneam and the Regional Council of Megiddo through the Partnership 2Gether platform of the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI). Our focus is on social support for Yokneam and Megiddo, and kesher — building bridges and creating long-term personal relationships between Atlantans and Israelis.
Jewish Abilities Alliance
The Jewish Abilities Alliance (JAA) promotes an inclusive community that celebrates the uniqueness and abilities of every member across the age spectrum. JAA assists families in finding the programs and services they need to support loved ones with different abilities. It works collaboratively to convene the professionals in our schools, camps and agencies that support special needs, and it enables people with disabilities to more fully participate in all that Jewish Atlanta offers. For years we called Federation-sponsored trips “missions,” but that word doesn’t really do justice to what you’ll experience when you travel with us. Federation travels to places like Cuba, Morocco, Minsk, and Israel on immersive Jewish Journeys that will open your eyes to Jewish communities and Jewish realities around the world. Learn more.
JumpSpark is a Federation Innovation initiative for teen engagement that reaches teens, their parents, and Jewish educators throughout Jewish Atlanta to provide meaningful, interactive learning opportunities. JumpSpark offers grants and strategic support to empower and educate Jews from every part of our city, and to help teens grow to discover their best selves. Learn more.
LIFE & LEGACY
LIFE & LEGACY is an initiative of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, in partnership with Atlanta Jewish Foundation, that is helping communities like Atlanta secure their Jewish future by teaching best practices for cultivating a culture of legacy giving. Our local cohort, now in its second year, includes 12 Jewish day schools, synagogues, and other organizations who are learning how to connect with constituents over shared values. My Jewish Future Pledge
My Jewish Future Pledge is a national movement to secure the Jewish future. The Pledge asks you to commit that at least 50% of your assets intended for charitable purposes will be directed to efforts to strengthen and serve the Jewish people and/or the State of Israel
Shinshinim are recent Israeli high school graduates taking a gap year before starting their IDF service. They are exuberant young ambassadors here to share themselves with us and to teach about Israeli culture in all corners of our Jewish community – schools, synagogues, camps and other community organizations.
PJ Library sends free, award-winning books that celebrate Jewish values and culture to families with children ages 6 months – 12 years. With support from Federation, books are mailed to more than 4,400 kids across metro Atlanta each month. PJ Library launches Jewish journeys with stories that spark family conversations and illuminate Jewish values. Learn more.
