THREE QUESTIONS FOR: Kenny Silverboard, Director Business & Professionals Q: What’s different about Campaign this year?
Kenny: For Campaign 2020 we have aligned our targeted philanthropies to reflect current and future community needs. This year we are targeting Jewish overnight camping, PJ Library, and AgeWell Atlanta, an initiative to provide older adults and caregivers with resources for healthy aging. We will continue to seek support for the Innovation Fund which was launched two years ago. The Philanthropy Team is growing with professionals joining us: Shira Hahn and Yael Sherman are our new Major Gifts Officers. These professionals will allow us to strengthen our efforts to reach more donors and have more meaningful one-on-one conversations.
Q: How do you and the Philanthropy Team get “psyched” for the launch of Campaign?
Kenny: Run 10 miles a day and eat raw eggs! No, really, the excitement is contagious. Once we start filling out the volunteer roles and setting our goals, the Campaign becomes this living, breathing, tangible thing. Being a part of a team that is entrusted by the community to raise and make sure the dollars are going where they will do the most good is incredibly satisfying. I love visiting our partner agencies, seeing what our community’s generosity achieves and the impact of their dollars. That never stops being exciting and gratifying for me.
Q: What are your goals for the Business & Professionals Division this year?
Kenny: As always, the goal is to engage, educate and make sure our B&P donors are in the know. This year we’ll be hosting a breakfast series in September and December. The September 26 event will take place at Greenberg Traurig in Buckhead and will feature David Birnbrey, Matt Shulman and Amy Knopf discussing real estate and finance with a lens on Atlanta and national trends. Our December event is still in the planning stages. As far as a goal , we are shooting to reach $1.8 million dollars for the Business & Professionals Division.
