Holocaust Survivor Support Fund
The Holocaust Survivor Support Fund (HSSF) provides funding for critical assistance to Holocaust survivors in need, ensuring they receive essential support, dignity, and comfort in their later years. Ranging in age from 80 to 101, with the average age of 87 years old, at least 150 of the more than 250 Holocaust survivors in Georgia and 110 in the Southeast regional program supported out of Atlanta receive financial, social, or support services. Approximately 25% of survivors have annual incomes that fall below the Federal Poverty Level. As survivors’ needs increase each year, so do the funding gaps.
Supporting Holocaust Survivors
1

Providing Financial & Daily Support

Many survivors face financial hardships. We help cover basic needs such as home care, prescription assistance, dental care, medical assistance, medical equipment, hearing aids, home safety, transportation, home-delivered meals, grocery food gift cards, emergency assistance, and assisted living and nursing home support.

2

Ensuring We Meet the Needs as Survivors Age

Approximately 52% of the supported survivors are on Medicaid and 47% receive food stamps. Grocery gift cards for low-income survivors have a large positive impact. The area of greatest need is homecare. As survivors age, their needs increase or change and require a higher level of support. Many survivors cannot be left alone or need help after hospitalization. Providing homecare allows survivors to avoid institutional settings that can be triggering.

3

Fostering Community & Connection

To help reduce social isolation, we offer engaging programs for survivors to feel valued and connected.
