What are JGather Organizational Engagement Grants?
These grants support Jewish 501(c)(3) organizations in the greater Atlanta area that create gatherings designed to build meaningful Jewish connections. The goal is to reach new people, deepen engagement, and strengthen community through creative, welcoming, and impactful programs.
Who should apply?
Any Jewish 501(c)(3) organization in Atlanta, including synagogues, schools, agencies, and grassroots groups with nonprofit status.
Please note: Individuals or families looking to host a gathering should apply for an Individual Gather Grant, not this grant.
What types of programs are funded?
Programs that bring people together in ways that are:
• Relational (focused on building connections)
• Jewishly meaningful (ritual, learning, culture, holidays, identity, values)
• Inclusive and welcoming of people from diverse backgrounds
Examples: holiday gatherings, intergenerational learning, creative Jewish social programs, or cross-organizational partnerships.
How much funding is available?
Grants are awarded up to $5,000 per organization per cycle, depending on program scope and impact.
What makes a strong application?
Priority is given to:
• Programs created in collaboration with one or more Jewish partners
• Lower-resourced organizations with limited staff or financial capacity
• Gatherings that are accessible, innovative, and welcoming
What are the requirements for grantees?
- All grantees must collect registration sign-ups for every gathering (to help track participation and impact).
- A short report must be submitted after the program, including number of participants, demographics, and stories of connection.
Are there restrictions on funding?
Yes. JGather does not fund:
• Political events
• Capital campaigns
• Fundraising events
How often can my organization apply?
Organizations may apply once per grant cycle. Multiple gatherings may be bundled into one proposal if they are part of the same program.
What is the review process?
Applications are reviewed by Federation’s allocations committee. Decisions are based on JGather priorities, the potential for relational engagement, and the strength of collaboration and impact.
Do gatherings need to be free for participants?
Programs should minimize cost barriers. Modest participation fees are allowed if they support program sustainability, but accessibility should remain a priority.
