Tim Hemphill joined the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta in February 2023 as Chief Financial Officer. In this leadership role, Tim currently oversees all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, and facilities for the Federation, Foundation, and other subsidiaries totaling assets over $450 million. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and previously served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Foundation (“LSU”). At LSU, Tim provided financial and operational leadership for an endowment totaling over $210 million in assets to serve the university’s needs. In addition to growing the private philanthropic development donated for LSU’s educational, research, and community programs, this work involved the creation of partnerships and outreach with other civic leaders, community organizations, foundations, and private businesses for developing auxiliary services to support the growth of the New Orleans campus in the region and State. New initiatives created under Tim’s financial leadership include fitness centers, new student housing, restaurants, parking garages, hotels, medical and healthcare service lines, student staffing agencies, and retirement aging centers.
Tim is currently a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience in finance and operational strategic leadership. He served as the Chief Administrative Officer for an economic development public-private partnership in New Orleans and, before that, as General Manager for an international wine retailer in New York City. The first ten years of his career included business consulting, tax management, and assurance services with CPA firms in New York and New Orleans. He provided financial services to clientele in luxury fashion, arts, sports leagues, technology media companies, high-net-worth individuals, non-profits, foundations, religious organizations, real estate ventures, and logistics companies.
In 2013, Tim was honored in the New Orleans business community as a City Business Money Makers awardee. He graduated from Louisiana State University E.J. Ourso College of Business. Tim is an alumnus of the 2013 Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum, the 2015 New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute, and the 2018 Leadership Louisiana program. Previously, Tim was co-chair of the Committee for a Better New Orleans board and served as a volunteer and member for other professional, civic, music, and arts-based organizations. He currently resides in Greater Atlanta, enjoying the “city among the trees” with his family.
