Itai Yaniv

Schoenbaum Shinshin

Hi everyone! My name is Itai, and I’m one of the Shinshinim coming to Atlanta.

You can call me Itai or Yaniv—whatever feels right! I’m super excited and grateful for the chance to be part of your community and to experience this amazing year together. I was born in a small town called Maccabim, but I’ve lived in Tel Aviv since I was a baby. I’m the youngest of four in a big, close family. My sister Rona (28) is a Major in the IDF, Alon (25) studies at Tel Aviv University, and Omer (21) is serving in the infantry. My mom Michal is a lawyer, and my dad Shai runs our family’s jewelry business, where Alon and I help out too.

One of the biggest parts of my life is music—I listen to all kinds of genres (literally all day) and play both piano and guitar. I’ve been playing piano since I was 9 and guitar since I was 11. Another big interest of mine is jewelry design. I work on 3D modeling and CAD design in our family’s jewelry shop, and I really enjoy the creative side of it. Oh, and I have to mention: my favorite food is arayes. It’s pita bread stuffed with spiced meat and grilled until it’s crispy and perfect—it’s my ultimate comfort food!

I’ve also been deeply involved in the Israeli Scouts (Tzofim), in Shevet Aviv in Tel Aviv. I’ve been a counselor for three years, and this year I led a leadership course for 9th graders training to become counselors. Before that, I worked with 7th graders and also helped integrate kids with special needs into a younger group. Being part of the Scouts has shaped so much of who I am—it’s taught me about responsibility, community, and how to be a supportive leader.

I’m so excited to be here with you all in Atlanta. I love learning about your community, sharing my Israeli story, and making memories that will stay with us forever. So happy to be part of this experience!
