Naama Backnoff
Schoenbaum Shinshinit

Shalom! My name is Naama, I’m 18 years old, and I’m from Yokne’am HaMoshava.
I go to school in Megiddo, where I major in theatre and chemistry—two subjects that might seem really different but that I love equally. I’ve always been curious about how things work, and at the same time, I feel happiest when I’m on stage or watching performances. One of my absolute favorite memories is seeing Wicked in London—it was such an inspiring experience that I’ll never forget.
I have a warm and loving family that means everything to me. My parents, Ora and Asa, are so supportive—my mom works at the Bethlehem of Galilee Food Forest, and my dad is an engineer. I also have an older sister, Maya, who is 21, and a younger brother, Omri, who is 15. One of the things I love most is our Shabbat dinners with my grandfather. No matter how busy we all are, we always make time to sit together around the table, and those evenings are some of the most special moments in my week.
Being active is a huge part of my life. Whether it’s running, hiking, or just taking my dog for a long walk, I always feel happiest outdoors and moving around. Since 4th grade, I’ve also been part of the Tzofim (Israeli Scouts) in Shevet “Shalhevet.” It really feels like a second home to me. Over the years, I’ve grown so much through the Scouts, built amazing friendships, and learned what it means to be a leader and a supportive friend.
I’m incredibly excited and grateful for the chance to be in Atlanta as a Shinshinit. I love meeting new people, sharing my Israeli story, and learning all about your community. This is an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and I’m excited to make memories together. 🫶
