Asaf
Schoenbaum Shinshin
My name is Asaf, I’m 17 years old, and I’m beyond excited to be one of the Shinshinim coming to Atlanta this year! I’m from Eilat, Israel’s southernmost city, right on the Red Sea coast. I live with my parents and seven brothers in two different homes. We’re a close family, and whether we’re spending quality time together at home or planning our next move, family means everything to me. Sports have always been a huge part of my life. You’ll usually find me on the court or the pitch. I love playing both soccer and basketball, tracking match stats, and staying active with friends. Music is another big passion of mine. I’ve spent countless hours playing guitar, exploring different chord progressions, strumming patterns, and fingerpicking techniques. When I’m not playing sports or music, I enjoy hands-on projects, exploring automotive mechanics, and creating smart digital workflows and tech projects like sports app designs. Growing up, I was deeply involved in the Scouts (Tzofim), which played a huge role in shaping who I am today. Being part of the movement taught me leadership, community involvement, and the power of team dynamics. Beyond youth leadership, I’ve always cared about making a positive impact on my hometown, even working on local initiatives focused on urban greening and environmental improvements in Eilat. I’m so excited to dive into the Atlanta community, meet all of you, share a piece of my Israeli home, and learn all about your Jewish life in America.
I can’t wait to build strong, meaningful connections, create unforgettable memories, and make this year truly impactful together!
