Judge Stacey Hydrick began her legal career in 1992 as a prosecutor. She transitioned to civil litigation in 2002, until she was appointed to the DeKalb County State Court bench in2011 by Governor Nathan Deal. In 2019, Judge Hydrick was elevated to the DeKalb County Superior Court by Governor Brian Kemp. As a Superior Court Judge, she presided over felony criminal cases, domestic cases and various civil cases. She retired in February 2026, after fifteen years on the bench, to pursue her passion for Jewish advocacy with the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta as the Director of the Antisemitism Response Network.
Judge Hydrick remains active in numerous bar-related and community organizations. She is a graduate of the Leadership DeKalb Class of 2012 and served as the Secretary of the DeKalb Bar Association for many years. In 2016, she was elected to serve as a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia representing the DeKalb Judicial Circuit and continues to serve in that role. In 2017, Judge Hydrick was appointed by the Georgia Supreme Court to serve on the Investigative Panel of the Judicial Qualifications Commission which she did for almost eight years. And in October 2023, Judge Hydrick co-founded the Jewish Bar Association of Georgia (J-BAR) and now serves as Vice-President.
Judge Hydrick received her B.A. degree in English from Emory University in 1989 and earned her J.D. from Georgia State University in 1992. She has been married to her husband, Karl Hydrick, for over thirty years. The Hydricks are active members of the Marcus Jewish Community Center in Dunwoody. They are the proud parents of two sons, Danny (29) and Adam (26). In her spare time, Judge Hydrick is an avid Peloton bike rider. She and her husband are also parents to their two rescue beagles, Riley and Molly.
