Today, that resilience is being tested.
Across the island, rising prices, food shortages, frequent power outages, and continued emigration have made daily life increasingly difficult. Approximately 700 Jews remain in Cuba, and many are struggling to meet basic needs. Nearly 60% of the community relies on ongoing support for essentials such as food, medicine, social services, and community connection.
Through our longstanding partnership with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and local community leaders, critical programs continue to provide care and ensure that Jewish life remains accessible to those who need it most.
Care for Vulnerable Jews
Provide monthly food packages, access to medications through community pharmacies, and home-based support for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those who are isolated.
Sustain Jewish Community Life
Support Shabbat and holiday celebrations, rabbinic leadership, transportation assistance, and communal meals that bring people together and strengthen Jewish identity.
Strengthen Jewish Continuity
Ensure Jewish education remains accessible through Sunday School programs serving more than 120 participants and intergenerational learning opportunities for children, adults, and seniors.
