Theodore S. Hertzberg is the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. As such, he is the chief federal law enforcement officer for the 46 northwesternmost counties of Georgia and leads an office of approximately 185 prosecutors, litigators, and support staff. Prior to his elevation to that position in May 2025, U.S. Attorney Hertzberg served as a trial-line federal prosecutor for nearly a decade—first in the Southern District of Georgia and then in the Northern District. In the Southern District, Mr. Hertzberg was chief of the asset forfeiture section; in the Northern District, his caseload skewed towards violent crime, drug trafficking, and child exploitation. Before joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Hertzberg was a white-collar criminal defense attorney at a large law firm in New York City.
Brent Alan Gray has worked as a criminal prosecutor for 35 years. He is currently an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, based in Atlanta. He serves the district as Senior Litigation Counsel. He previously served as the coordinator of the District’s Criminal Civil Rights Program and as the District Election Officer. During his career as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Gray’s primary responsibilities have included the investigation and prosecution of hate crimes and excessive force crimes committed by law enforcement officers. He has also prosecuted public corruption cases involving law enforcement officers and other government officials. Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office in Atlanta, Mr. Gray served as a trial attorney
and deputy chief of the Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington. As deputy chief, Mr. Gray supervised civil rights investigations and prosecutions in fifteen states and territories. Prior to joining the Department of Justice in 2000, Mr. Gray worked for nine years as a state
prosecutor in South Carolina.
