Shira

Shalom! My name is Shira, I’m 18 years old, and I am super excited to be one of the Shinshinim coming to Atlanta this year! I was born in Jerusalem and grew up in Yokne’am Illit, where I live with my parents and younger brother. Our home is always full of life, especially our backyard, which has become an open buffet for local cats. We have three that are officially ours, and many others who just stop by for dinner… I recently graduated from high school, where I majored in physics. Alongside my studies, dancing has been a massive part of my life. I danced in a dance group for 10 years, and I absolutely love performing and expressing myself through movement. Another huge part of who I am comes from my time in the Tzofim (Israeli Scouts). I’ve been a member since 6th grade, all the way through 12th grade, serving as both a guide and a troop leader. Working with kids and teens is one of the most rewarding experiences for me. I truly love meeting new people, connecting deeply, and building friendships that last. I can’t wait to arrive in Atlanta! I feel that this diverse, strong, and warm community is the perfect place for me.
