Commemorating October 7th, 2024:

United in Remembrance and Resilience

Almost one year ago, Israel endured the worst massacre of the Jewish people in a single day since the Holocaust. On a joyous holiday, Simchat Torah, when Israelis across the country were warm in their beds fast asleep, Hamas terrorists stormed the southern Gaza border and murdered 1200 innocent men, women, and children. Hundreds of people from more than a dozen nations were also kidnapped, and there are still 100 hostages being held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza today.

This is not just a Jewish or Israeli issue. It is a humanity issue.

The vicious and heartbreaking attack on October 7th has shaken Israel and the greater Jewish world to its core. And the way we begin to heal is by standing united as one.

We invite the whole Atlanta community to join us for the upcoming events in commemoration of October 7th.

Three Ways To Engage:

1. October 7 in Sandy Springs (Exact location will be given after registration) – 7:00 PM – This event has concluded.

A community-wide gathering to honor the memory of the victims and stand in unity.

2. Simchat Torah – October 24-25

The massacre tragically coincided with this joyous holiday, and reclaiming it is a powerful way to stand resilient as a community. Check with your local synagogue for service times and celebrations. We encourage you to celebrate Simchat Torah at a local synagogue. Our synagogues are ready to welcome the entire community to participate in this holiday. You can find a full list on the Atlanta Jewish Connector website here.

3. October 27 – Exact location will be given after registration – 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

A more experiential event that will focus on resilience, healing, and the many ways to connect with Israel. This event will include interactive art projects, spiritual workshops, learning opportunities, and more.

We invite everyone to join us during this meaningful month. For more information on how to participate and to register, please click below. These events are brought to you by the entire Atlanta Jewish community.
