Doug has joined our Federation as the Director of Interfaith Engagement after a 17-year run as executive director of Congregation Gesher L’Torah, a Conservative synagogue in Alpharetta, GA. As someone in an interfaith family, Doug and his wife Laura Zucker, a physician with North Fulton Pediatrics, raised their sons Ben and Sam in Alpharetta before sending them off to college at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Chicago.
In his years at Gesher L’Torah, Doug had the opportunity to learn from and advise other interfaith couples as they negotiated their particular family journeys. The opportunity to help provide resources on a wider scale to others on a similar path led him to accept the responsibility of leading JFGA’s new interfaith initiative.
Before working at Gesher L’Torah, Doug worked in video production for several years before becoming the promotions director for Sports Radio 680 the Fan. During football season you can still hear him on the airwaves of 680, broadcasting high school games and hosting recruiting shows.
