Next spring, Israel will celebrate its 75th birthday, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta will be there. Join us on our 2023 Community Journey to Israel from April 17-23 and experience this remarkable country like never before.

Whether this is your first visit to the Promised Land or you’ve been many times, you’ll encounter a rich and exciting world of possibilities. Israel’s Diamond Anniversary is the perfect time to experience this vibrant country. Stay in luxury hotels, experience exquisite cuisine, and learn more about the land of milk and honey for $4,100.

On this Community Journey, you’ll embark on curated tours highlighting the many facets of Israeli life. Are you a foodie? Culinary Israel might be your style. Love hiking? Try the Outdoors path. Looking to connect with a higher power? Spirituality and Wellness is for you. Whatever your interests, there’s a tour that will spark your imagination.

This trip is a unique opportunity to experience Israel alongside your Atlanta Jewish community. Bring your family—or sign up on your own. You and your fellow travelers will share incredible experiences and make memories that you’ll bring back to Atlanta.

The Diamond Anniversary won’t come again, and Jewish Atlanta will be sparkling next spring in the desert sun.

Trip Overview

Federation Atlanta’s Community Journey will begin on Monday, April 17, with an Arrival Ceremony in Tel Aviv. That evening, we will hold a Yom HaShoah Commemoration with three generations of Jewish representation and enjoy an Opening Dinner as a group.

Tuesday morning, there will be a Yom HaShoah presentation by Jewish Education Consultant Rachel Korazim. In the afternoon, you will experience the first day of your 3-Day Tour—participants will split into groups and attend unique events. That night, enjoy dinner in Tel Aviv on your own.

Wednesday begins with another day of 3-Day Tour activities. That evening, the group will reconvene in Yokneam, known as “Startup Village,” Atlanta’s sister city. Enjoy the Atlanta In Blue and White Partnership Celebration and Dinner before traveling to Jerusalem for a good night’s rest.

Thursday will be the first day of your 2-Day Tour. Depending on your chosen excursion, you might visit the mystical city of Safed or the seaside tourist destination of Eilat. In the evening, the entire group has free time to explore Jerusalem.

The last of our 3-Day Tour activities is Friday morning. That evening, our entire group will experience one of this trip’s highlights: Shabbat in Jerusalem. Celebrate with a community Kabbalat Shabbat and a festive dinner.

Saturday, you can attend Shabbat services and/or take a tour in and around Jerusalem—or beyond. Optional excursions will be offered to Masada, the Dead Sea, and more. After our group Havdalah, enjoy free time and dinner on your own.

On the final day of our trip, Sunday, you’ll finish your 2-Day Tour. After hotel check-out, we conclude our Community Journey with the Atlanta in Blue and White Farewell Dinner. Toast to all you have learned and experienced in Israel and the beauty and wonder of this ancient land.

If all that isn’t excitement enough, you can extend your expedition! Makor, our travel agency, can help you add a pre- or post-trip experience. Several members of our Journey group will be visiting the UAE on their way to Israel – others will be heading to Egypt or Jordan after. Contact Barry Swartz at bswartz@connexx.org to learn more.
